shear pump

Shear pump is the type of pump that use for shatter the polymer and the clay for oil drilling field that user result have been proven effective.  For oil drilling mud system, the polymer and the clay need to be shattered prior enter the drilling mud.  If polymer and the clay do not properly shattered, then it might cause the blockage of the vibration screen that later create larger home that result lost of polymer and in result increase the drilling operation cost and may also make the drilling fluid in the large size solid particles harden and it is difficult to get rid of.

GNZJ series mud cleaner

GNZJ594E-2S12N Mud Cleaner is the 4 panels screen installed, low buffer box in placed and pair with two Martins 2.5 HP motor.  The control box is met IEC EX, ATEX AND UL explosion proof and certified.  GNZJ594E-2S12N mud cleaner is combination of desander, desilter and shale shaker in one.  The design contains two 10 inches hydrocyclones for desander and twelve 4 inches hydrocyclones for desilter.  It combine 4 panels shale shaker to become mud cleaner has 240 m3/h treating capacity.  The use of the hydrocyclone for the weighted mud is prohibitively expensive (due to loss of barite) and since ultra-fine screens are incapable of handling the entire mud stream, the other kind  of solids removal device is necessary. A unit consisting of both of these devices covers their individual limitations. It is the drilling mud cleaner.  The main function of drilling mud cleaner is eliminate the solid particles whose particle sizes are larger than the barite, and collect the barite in drilling fluid. When the weighted drilling fluid pass the hydrocyclone, a large number of barites in underflow pass the screen, the barites will be returned to cycle tank
 1 The main structure of mud cleaner can be divided into two parts, the desander hydrocyclones  and desilter hydrocyclones  are installed on the upside. The base of the cone is equipped with the chute, and a shale shaker is installed. The structure is compact, and occupies small space.
2 Between the main inlet pipe and outlet pipe is equipped with butterfly valves, can adjust the numbers of desander and desilter function at any time, easy to operate and maintain.
3 The feed port adopts tangent feed, smooth transport, for improving separation efficiency. The inner surface of mud cleaner is smooth, and the flow channel is rational.

4 Different numbers of hydrocyclones of desander and desilter can be matched according to the requirement of other solids control machinery that are in use.

Decanter Centrifuge use in mud separation

Decanter centrifuge use in solid separation for drilling fluid after desilter, which done by the 4 inch hydrocyclone  The drilling mud at this stage may contain solids between 2 to 5 micron and in some case, it contain the barite, the reusable additive.  Decanter centrifuge ‘s purpose is separate this fine solids and recover the barite to achieve purification of drilling mud so it can be sent it back to rig and use it for drilling many times over. 


The basic concept of decanter centrifuge is use G-force rotate the bowl “spinning” to create the weight difference so the solids is separate from the mud.  During the high speed spinning in G-force, the solids move in one direction while the mud moves to opposite direction to achieve the separation and two exits below the decanter centrifuge will be one for exit of solid while the other one is for the mud that is done separation. The centrifuge generate centrifugal force amount to 400g~3000g acceleration, only need a short time accomplish the separation process

Such process is accomplish by feeding the drilling mud after the separation of desilter and feed the mud into the decanter centrifuge. Decanter centrifuge mainly use for recovering the barite and get rid of small solids in the mud for reduce the solids in the drilling mud.  This step to make sure the function of drilling mud back to near as new as possible, which the drilling rig bit need for continues drilling.  


Drilling rig need this cleaning step is purposely maintains the cost of the drilling. The maintains of drilling cost is by product.  The main reason is if solids separation is not done properly, the density of small solids will raise and that will seriously affect the drilling bit which will cost raise temperature in the mud and cost damage of the drilling bit and many other types of machinery to over worked and lead to structure damage of the drill rig.

Thermal Desorption Unit for oil tank bottom cleaning

Thermal desorption is an environmental remediation technology that utilizes heat to increase the volatility of oil such that they can be removed from the oil sludge or oil tank bottom. The thermal desorption unit is used for oil recovery and reduce hazardous waste for the environment. The recovered oil can be used for the operation of the TDU or be sold for money, the solids waste can be as waste injection, land fill or drain off in the sea, because after treated by TDU, the oil content in the solids waste is under 0.3%, which can be disposal directly. It is accepted by most of countries environmental protection laws. Not only for oil waste treatment, TDU can be also used for various materials, like soil, sludge, sand, filter cake, tank bottom, organic based hazardous waste and contaiminated soil. Just considering the total cost, some clients will not use TDU for low profit projects, we will recommend other equipments, like desander, desilter, shale shaker, decanter centrifuge, vertical cuttings dryer, etc.

The recovered oil is a mixture of oil and water, we will apply oil water separator to get pure oil. The oil water separator is a device designed to separate gross amounts of oil and suspended solids from the wastewater effluents of oil refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical plants, natural gas processing plants and other industrial oily water sources.

The power source of the TDU is coming from burning of oil, the oil consumption is max 80kg per hour for 2 burners. The recommend material is oil content less than 15%, water content less than 15%, the total fluids content less than 30%, and the max fluids content no more than 40%. 3 Steps to Make a Normative Operation on Decanter Centrifuge

Most of the decanter centrifuge operators on site are reluctantly to change for using some other brand centrifuge once they’ve been used to the existing units. It is easy to understand that it will take time to learn how to operate a different brand centrifuge, as different brands may have different operation regulations.
Sometimes the operators are not able to make the decision whether to change the decanter centrifuge or not. The best way is to leave it away, no matter which supplier the centrifuge coming from, just get to know how to operate it.
Just like the response from some of GN’s clients, “Our operators on site said GN’s decanter centrifuge is difficult to operate than other brands.” This is really frustrating for GN to hear about that. Every time when we got response like that from clients, we will do emphasize and firmly suggest clients to read GN manual, then they will know how to operate easily. This really is a tough and happy job.
Step 1: Read the Centrifuge Manual Carefully before running
Note! Note! Note! GN solids control would like suggest all the operators read the manual carefully before turning on the machine. Of course, some of the experienced operators would know how to operate all kinds of the centrifuge, but why not make it correct 100 percent. Sometimes, experientialism will lead big problem. Please read the manual, then you will know start the back motor firstly, then main motor, and then shear pump. When turning off, do it as feeding pump, main motor, finally back motor.


Step 2: Adjust the Centrifuge RPM gradually
Different RPM will bring different performance. At different drilling steps, the RPM of the centrifuge is different. Operators’ main job on operating the centrifuge is to adjust the RPM as the working condition and mud condition. For GN’s centrifuge, the operator can adjust both the RPM of the bowl and scroll to get much dryer or wetter solid discharges.

Step 3: Flushing the Bowl before completely Stopping the Machine
Every operator need keep in mind to flush the bowl inside before stopping the centrifuge to prevent the mud blocking. Ignorance of this operation will lead to badly blocking of inside bowl by the dry mud cake which you can only take out by disassembling the bowl.
